So, I Made the Dog a Sweater

First off, please let me preface this post by saying that I still can't believe that I'm the type of gal who would happily make her DOG a sweater. I still can't believe I have a DOG in my house, let alone one who actually sleeps in my bed!! I've probably mentioned it before, but until we got this guy almost 3 years ago, I had quite the disdain for dogs...of any kind. Somehow, this little red dachshund has melted my dog-despising heart, and I now find myself gazing at dogs everywhere with a fondness that definitely wasn't there before. I even have socks with dachshunds on them. Oh, the horror!! lol I just can't believe I'm one of "those people".

I recently learned to crochet, and this was my first attempt at making anything besides a scarf. I used this free pattern and altered it to fit my long little doggie. He already owns a Buckeye jersey, so clothes are not a new thing to him but I'm happy to report that he seems to love his sweater. If you hold it out, he comes over and puts his head into it. It's hilarious, in my doggie-loving opinion. This is the dog though that if you leave a coat (or a pile of laundry) on the couch for 5 minutes, you're likely to find him curled up inside it when you go to put it away.

It's a little too big around the chest area, but for my first attempt I was happy with how it turned out. He does kind of look like an armadillo when he's running around the house in it. LOL
